First Aid kit for kids

Every child needs a first aid of late. We all try to give healthy atmosphere, a good nutrition, and best facilities to educate them but often forget to keep a good and updated first aid for our child. If believed to the surveys done, a huge number of children die every year due to lack of possible and basic first aid immediately after the injuries. Numerous injuries such as falls, cut, etc. can be easily treated at home under the basic first aid kit for kids.

Compiling everything and making a basic first aid kit for kids is necessary. Primarily, it helps in avoiding infections. Every child must be trained enough that they can use the first aid kit available to them. Secondly, it astonishes the risk of injury. It will help them to understand that whenever they are hurt they have to use first aid facilities.

Now the question arises how to make a first aid kit for kids:

First aid kit for kids
Step 1
Choose a storage box that can be used as the first aid kit for kids. The box should be well made, durable and easy portable. If handle and clasp is there it would be an asset. It is more apt if it is transparent, simple and easy to use for the child to open and use it, at the time of emergency.

Step 2
Label the kit appropriately. The box should be clearly notify that’s it’s a first aid kit of your kids. The box must carry the pictorial presentation of medical aid. It is necessary to display the symbol that indicates first aid, i.e. a red cross as it will help at the time of emergency.

Step 3
Jot down all important emergency contact numbers clearly on a paper and place it in the box. The paper must include the name of the hospital with at least one telephone contact number, father’s contact number, mother’s contact number, guardian contact number.

Step 4
Make a checklist of everything available in the box. Place the printout that covers the checklist of all necessary items covered in the first aid kit of the kids. Do not include any stuff which is not child friendly or child safe.

Step 5
Try to keep a printout representing the picto-gram covering the usage of each stuff kept in the first aid kit of kids. Do mention the necessary labels of each product such as expiry date, or the necessary steps if required at all.

Step 6
Keep only 1 time at a time. Do not over stock the items in the box. Keep the record of the stock available in the first aid kit of the kids. Replace the consumed stuff when nearing to finish. Also review the checklist and items at least once or twice a month.

• Antiseptic Wipes
• Soap
• Antibiotic Ointment
• Antiseptic Solution (like hydrogen peroxide)
• Acetaminophen & Ibuprofen
• Extra Prescription Medications (if the family is going on vacation)
• Tweezers
• Sharp Scissors
• Safety Pins
• Disposable Instant Cold Packs
• Calamine Lotion
• Alcohol Wipes
• Thermometer
• Tooth Preservation Kit
• Latex Gloves (2-3 pairs)
• Flashlight & Extra Batteries

Tips
1. Store the first aid kit of the kid at an easy reachable place.
2. Inspect the kit at least once a month
3. Inspect the liquid based solution for expiry or leaked.
4. Everyone should keep one first-aid kit at home and one in the daily bag or in a travel vehicle.
5. The first aid kit for kids should be readily available
6. First aid Checklist must be bold and clear and well updated.
7. Don’t forget to restock the stuff after every use.
8. If your child has any drug allergy. Write it on a paper and keep in the first aid kit or write it on checklist of the kit.

Make a first aid kit of your kid(s).Its importance is much needed at the time of emergency. And make your child comfortable and understand its use too.
